Co-founder of the Marine Corps Association, Alena Skuybida, during a rally in front of the International Committee of the Red Cross, stated that currently more than 4,000 Ukrainian marines are held captive by Russia, including 1,271 defenders of Mariupol.
Together with other activists, she reminded the organization of the need for genuine efforts to monitor the conditions of Ukrainian prisoners of war. According to her, military personnel returning from captivity claim they have not seen representatives of the Red Cross at the detention sites, despite the organization's statements regarding its activities in this area.
We remind you that the ICRC responded to the rally organized by activists and relatives of the imprisoned soldiers.
Additionally, the team behind the authors' project "Our Cause" investigated what is happening at the ICRC and the challenges faced by the relatives of the prisoners of war.
