The head of state Vladimir Zelensky announced this in his evening address on Sunday, January 26.

New Position for Mykhailo Drapaty

Zelensky pointed out that he has tasked the command staff of the Ukrainian army to strengthen operations in the most intense combat areas—specifically in the Donetsk region. Consequently, Major General Mykhailo Drapaty has been appointed as the head of the Operational Command "Khortytsia".

"At the same time, Drapaty will retain his authority as the commander of the Ground Forces—the largest component of our Armed Forces, which will facilitate the integration of military operations with proper brigade training. The needs at the front must dictate the standards for staffing and training the brigades," — emphasized the head of state.

The President also expressed gratitude to Ukrainian developers and manufacturers of long-range drones and missiles, noting their visible effectiveness.

"Concerns in Russia, a reduction in Russian capabilities to sell and process oil, and lower global oil prices—these are essential for the sake of peace. This year must be decisive, and our actions should impact our fate. That’s precisely what we are doing," — stated Zelensky.

Recall that the 110th OMB stated that occupiers have advanced in the settlement of Velyka Novosilka in the Donetsk region. The Russians are attempting to block the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine there.

Earlier, the Operational Command "Khortytsia" denied reports that the Russians allegedly entered Pokrovsk. The situation there is complex, but Ukrainian forces are holding their positions.
