Russians attacked the city of Sumy with Shahed-type strike drones. An explosion occurred on a parking lot in the midst of residential buildings.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the acting mayor of Sumy Artem Kobzar.
According to the mayor, numerous vehicles were damaged, windows in high-rise buildings were shattered, and the State Emergency Service (SES) personnel are on site.
The city chairman also released a video showing the aftermath of the enemy drone strike.
Vladimir Artyukh, head of the Sumy regional military administration, noted in a video comment that firefighters have already extinguished the fire at the incident site. Preliminary reports indicate that seven vehicles were destroyed.
Rescuers are conducting door-to-door checks and searching for injured residents of nearby buildings.
Later, the State Emergency Service (SES) provided details on the aftermath of the drone strike on Sumy.
The emergency responders informed that the firefighters extinguished the fire caused by the debris of the UAV. In total, three houses and 15 vehicles were damaged in Sumy, with six cars on fire.
"The fire has been extinguished. There are no casualties," SES reported.
The emergency services also shared videos and photos of the consequences of the enemy UAV strike on Sumy.
The Sumy city council reported that in one of the damaged buildings in a residential area, gas supply is absent due to the drone attack.
"Preliminary reports indicate that 15 vehicles and windows in three houses on Armed Forces of Ukraine Street and Zalivna Street were damaged," the city council stated.
It was also noted that gas workers "are ready to begin work on restoring gas supply in the morning."
On the evening of February 9, Russians are once again launching mass attacks on Ukraine with Shahed kamikaze drones. Air raid alerts have been declared in many regions of the east, center, and south, with air defense forces in operation.
