An executor of a terrorist attack against a military prosecutor has been detained in Odessa. The explosion, which damaged three vehicles, occurred in the city on February 20.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing SBU.

"The Security Service and the National Police detained an FSB agent 'on the hot trail' who prepared a terrorist act in the center of Odessa on February 20 of this year," the statement reads.

At that time, the enemy detonated a car belonging to the prosecutor of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Defense of the Southern Region. As a result of the explosion, a passerby sustained injuries.

Later that same day, law enforcement arrested the executor of the attack. He turned out to be an 18-year-old resident of Odessa, recruited by the occupiers through a Telegram channel seeking "easy" money.

According to the instructions from the Russian special services, the young man personally manufactured an improvised explosive device (IED) in a rented apartment with a power equivalent to 300 grams of TNT.

To increase the lethality, he additionally filled the explosives with metal nuts and placed it under the military prosecutor's car. Moreover, opposite the "target," the perpetrator set up a hidden mobile phone with remote access functionality for the FSB.

Subsequently, the Russian special service remotely activated the explosives. During searches, a mobile phone containing evidence of his communication with the occupiers was seized from the detainee.

He is currently being notified of suspicion under part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (terrorist act). The issue of choosing a preventive measure in the form of custody without the right to bail is being resolved. The perpetrator faces up to 12 years in prison with property confiscation.
