The Chervonozavodsk District Court of Kharkiv found 19-year-old Nikolai Kharkovsky guilty of violating traffic rules, which resulted in the death of one person and injuries to three others. He was sentenced to 8 years in prison and deprived of the right to operate vehicles for 3 years.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine referring to the press service of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
The accident occurred on October 26, 2021, around 20:40 at the intersection of Gagarin Avenue (now Aerospace Avenue) and Odessa Street. A 16-year-old driver of an Infinity Q50 ran a red light and collided with a Chevrolet Aveo, driven by a 58-year-old man. The driver of the Chevrolet died at the scene, while the underage offender and three passengers in his car sustained injuries.
After the accident, the accused attempted to provide false information at the hospital and tried to flee but was apprehended by the police.
The investigation revealed that the underage driver already had a criminal record for intentional infliction of moderate bodily harm. In July 2021, he was sentenced to two years in prison with a one-year probationary period.
In addition to imprisonment, the court ordered the convicted individual to pay one million hryvnias to the children of the deceased driver. An appeal period is currently underway.

Forensic analysis confirmed that 16-year-old Nikolai Kharkovsky was behind the wheel of the Infiniti during the accident – this was confirmed by a DNA material match.
