Germany is investigating a potential sabotage against a naval vessel, according to Spiegel.

The prosecution in Rostock, Germany, is likely conducting an investigation into suspected sabotage against a vessel of the German military. The incident took place back in 2024.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Spiegel.

According to media reports, last year, while docked at the Tamsen shipyard in Rostock on the Baltic Sea, someone cut the cables located behind the outer hatches of a mine-hunting trawler. However, experts have ruled out the theory of an attempted theft, with the main theory being sabotage.

It is noted that this incident marks the second suspicious case involving the fleet in a relatively short period. It was revealed that at the end of 2024, unknown individuals attempted to cause serious damage to the recently completed corvette Emden.

At that time, dozens of kilograms of small metallic elements were dumped into its propulsion system. Had this gone unnoticed, it could have caused significant harm during operation, rendering the ship out of commission for an extended period.

The Rostock prosecutor's office confirmed to Spiegel that they are investigating suspicions of sabotage but cannot provide detailed comments due to the sensitivity of the matter.

It is worth recalling that in April of last year, the German federal prosecutor's office announced the arrest of two Russian saboteurs. They are suspected of planning attacks on military facilities within the country, particularly American ones.

According to media reports, the perpetrators intended to organize sabotage at the Grafenwöhr army base, where Ukrainian defenders are trained on American Abrams tanks.

It should be noted that Germany is Ukraine's primary ally in terms of military aid among European countries. Additionally, Ukrainian soldiers are trained on its territory.
