The Ukrainian intelligence carried out extensive strikes on Russian bases in Crimea. This move was aimed at compelling Russia to redeploy additional air defense resources from the front lines.

This information comes from RBK-Ukraine, citing Forbes.

According to the publication, despite the scale and complexity of the attack, it was likely primarily a maneuver intended to force the Russians to redirect additional air defense assets from other locations along the front line. Thus, the Ukrainian assault on Crimea could facilitate further Ukrainian operations.

These could include strikes on Russian command posts and supply lines in the Kursk region. Alternatively, there may be attacks on critical infrastructure targets in the Donetsk region.

Forbes reports that during the shelling on November 29, one of the most diverse combinations of munitions was employed. This may have included Storm Shadow cruise missiles, S-200 surface-to-air missile systems converted into long-range ground-to-ground weapons, strike drones from the Main Intelligence Directorate, as well as ballistic missiles of unspecified types.

At first glance, it may seem that this was a futile attack; however, the redeployment of air defense assets to Crimea combined with intensified Ukrainian strikes on the best S-400 surface-to-air missile batteries of the Russian Air Force could create gaps in the air defense system.

Additionally, on November 29, Ukrainian scouts hit three radar stations of the Russians in Crimea.
