On Sunday, December 1, a fatal traffic accident involving a BMW car occurred in Dnipro. A 10-year-old girl lost her life in the crash, and there are others injured.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing the press service of the National Police.

The agency noted that the case will be transferred to the Main Investigation Department of the National Police.

"This high-profile case will now be investigated by us under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine," said the first deputy head of the Main Investigation Department, Sergey Panteleev.

Additionally, law enforcement has initiated a change in jurisdiction for criminal proceedings related to the traffic accident, during which the driver of the same vehicle hit pedestrians at a crosswalk in downtown Dnipro last summer.

Currently, experienced investigators and operatives are involved in the investigation, continuing their research and gathering evidence to clarify all causes and circumstances of the tragic accident.

"Prosecutors have reviewed the materials of the criminal case and established that there is sufficient evidence of the involvement of a 19-year-old individual who was driving the BMW. He has been notified of suspicion under part two of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine," said Oleg Ryzhенко, deputy head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.

According to him, today the court has chosen a preventive measure for him - detention without the right to bail.

Regarding the passenger of the BMW, he has been notified of suspicion under Article 136 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Prosecutors have supported the petition for his preventive measure - round-the-clock house arrest.

According to the investigation, the driver fled the scene of the accident, and a minor passenger was with him. Approximately an hour later, they returned to the accident site. Based on available information, including footage from surveillance cameras, the last person driving the BMW was the adult suspect.

Recall that on December 1 at 19:45, a fatal traffic accident occurred near Naberezhna Zavodska Street in Dnipro. Preliminary data indicates that the driver of the BMW was unable to avoid a collision with a Ford vehicle that was making a U-turn at the "Children's Combine" stop.

Later, Dnipro police reported suspicion against the 19-year-old driver of the BMW, who caused the fatal accident on December 1. As a result of the crash, a 10-year-old passenger of the Ford died.
