The Situation in the Kharkiv Region

Last summer, Russian occupiers began attempts to advance in the northern Kharkiv region, where they concentrated tens of thousands of their soldiers.

However, by the end of September last year, defense forces reported that the soldiers of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine liberated the Volchansk Aggregate Plant from enemy troops. According to GUR, the soldiers engaged in close combat with Russian occupiers in densely populated areas.

We also reported that in early December, in the vicinity of the village of Novomlynsk, Kupiansk district, the Russians attempted to seize and hold a foothold on the right bank of the Oskil River.

Additionally, the Russians shell populated areas in the Kharkiv region every day, particularly Kharkiv itself. According to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov, the time to detect the location of shelling in the city has been reduced from three minutes to 15-25 seconds.
