Norway will assume responsibility for the defense of a key hub for transporting civilian and military supplies from other countries to Ukraine. This hub is located in Poland.
This information comes from RBK-Ukraine citing The Guardian.
According to the publication, this month Norway will take on the responsibility for air defense of the key hub for transporting civilian and military materials to Ukraine.
"In this way, Norway contributes to ensuring that aid to Ukraine reaches its destination, allowing Ukraine to continue its fight for freedom," said the country's Minister of Defense Bjørn Arild Gram.
He stated that Norway will "guard" the airspace over the airport in Rzeszów, Poland, and will deploy around 100 soldiers in addition to air defense systems and fighter jets.
"Poland is making tremendous efforts to ensure the delivery of both civilian and military cargo to Ukraine. The airport is also crucial for medical evacuations, for which Norway is responsible," Gram emphasized.
Poland plays a vital role in the delivery of military assistance to Ukraine from international partners. Major logistical routes for transporting weapons, equipment, and humanitarian aid pass through its territory. In particular, Poland provides its logistics centers for the storage and distribution of military cargo.
Moreover, the country actively contributes to ensuring the security of these supplies by engaging allies to strengthen defense capabilities, such as deploying additional air defense systems and supporting international coordination.
Recently, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that Norway has agreed to provide protection for a key transit hub for foreign military aid to Ukraine. This hub is located in Poland.
