Ключевой момент для С-400: ATACMS уничтожил российскую радарную станцию "Надгробие".

Ukrainian military forces have successfully neutralized the 64N6 radar, also known as "Grave Stone." This radar is a crucial component of the Russian S-300 and S-400 surface-to-air missile systems.

This information is reported by RBK-Ukraine referencing the publication Army Recognition.

According to the publication, the 64N6 was likely destroyed using ATACMS missiles provided by the United States to Ukraine. The utilization of these missiles and the destruction of the radar represent a significant blow to the combat capability of Russian air defense.

The loss of such an element as the "Grave Stone" radar reduces Russia's chances of detecting and eliminating airborne threats at considerable distances.

What is known about the 64N6 radar

The 64N6 "Grave Stone" radar is an important component of the Russian S-300PM and S-400 missile systems. It is a powerful three-dimensional radar station with a 360-degree view, functioning as an early warning system for target detection, determining their coordinates, and transmitting data to the command post.

The 64N6 is designed to detect aerial targets, including aircraft, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles, across a wide range of altitudes and speeds. It can operate against both traditional and complex targets, including stealthy objects.

Main technical parameters :

  • detection range : up to 300-400 km (depending on the altitude of the target);
  • operating frequency range : S-band (centimeter wave range);
  • number of simultaneously tracked targets : up to 200;
  • Operating altitude : from a few meters to 40-50 km.

The radar is equipped with a phased array antenna that provides rapid scanning of the space. It can operate in automatic mode, transmitting information about targets to the air defense system's command post.

The significance of "Grave Stone" for air defense

The "Grave Stone" serves as the "eye" of the S-300 and S-400 systems, ensuring target detection at long distances even before they can be engaged by the system's missiles. This makes it a priority target for enemy attacks, as the destruction of the radar significantly weakens the effectiveness of the entire system.

However, the 64N6 radar is vulnerable to precision strikes, particularly from ATACMS missiles. Such attacks aim to destroy key elements of air defense, depriving the systems of their ability to timely detect and engage targets.

Recall that on November 24, Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a Russian missile troops regiment in the Kursk region. In particular, the radar of the S-400 system was hit.
