The National Police reported suspicions against the commander of Russian paratroopers involved in the shootings of civilians at the intersection of Vokzalna and Yablunska streets in Bucha between March 5 and March 9, 2022.
This information was provided by RBK-Ukraine citing the press service of the National Police.
According to the police, among the civilians killed by Russians were women, men, and children aged between 14 and 69 years. They were shot with automatic weapons and military vehicles while trying to get to work, visit relatives, evacuate their families from the combat zone, or simply find food.
During the investigation, all circumstances of this war crime were established, and all Russian soldiers involved in the killings were identified. This includes 12 paratroopers from the 234th Air Assault Regiment from Pskov. Their commander ordered them to take control of the sector at the intersection of Vokzalna and Yablunska streets and to open fire on anyone within their line of sight. He personally monitored the execution of this order, providing instructions on the setup of firing positions and the duty of Russian soldiers at those locations.
Evidence was collected confirming the commander of the Pskov paratroopers issued the order to shoot civilians. Investigators informed him of the suspicion regarding the issuance of an order that violated the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder. The accused faces life imprisonment for his actions.
Previously, the SBU identified the Russian war criminal who participated in the torture of civilians during the occupation of parts of Kyiv Oblast.
