Ukrainian paratroopers captured 11 Russian soldiers in the Kursk region. They turned out to be former prisoners who had signed contracts with the Russian army.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing the Telegram channel of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (DSU AFU).
According to the paratroopers, during one of the unsuccessful enemy assaults, Russian occupiers were eliminated. Some of the Russians fled, while those who survived and hid were captured by the Galician brigade unit.
"In the video, soldiers, former prisoners who signed contracts and ended up in the 11th Air Assault Brigade of the Russian army, recount their experience. They were tasked with capturing a settlement controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where Russian civilians were also present," the video description states.
It should also be noted that the Russian command traditionally sent poorly trained and poorly equipped former prisoners into battle. The command itself fled as soon as the fighting began.
Since August, the Ukrainian army has been conducting an operation in the Kursk region. This operation pursued several main objectives: replenishing the exchange fund, creating a buffer zone on the Russian side, and drawing Russian troops away from other points on the front.
According to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskiy, since the beginning of the operation, Ukrainian defenders have managed to capture 717 Russian soldiers.
Meanwhile, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Anatoliy Burhilovich, stated that currently the ratio of Ukrainian to Russian losses in the Kursk region is 1 to 7.
