Chinese scientists are exploring the possibility of equipping ground-based robotic dogs with powerful thermobaric weapons. They believe these robots will act as enforcers on urban battlefields.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Interesting Engineering.

According to the publication, ground robots will work in conjunction with aerial drones, forming a cohesive team for detecting and neutralizing threats. Such systems have the potential to enhance combat effectiveness, particularly in urban environments.

The team conducted tests of these unmanned systems in simulated urban combat operations. During the testing, they were evaluated based on situational awareness, command management, and the coordination of strikes. The trials demonstrated the potential effectiveness of such systems.

It is anticipated that ground robots equipped with thermobaric weapons will be utilized for clearing underground complexes in urban areas, where the enemy might hide or use cover for concealment. Thermobaric weapons create a powerful explosion with high temperatures, significantly increasing their destructive potential.

According to the South China Morning Post, Chinese researchers suggest that aerial drones will conduct reconnaissance before authorizing strikes with thermobaric weapons. Ground robots will then be used for further elimination of the enemy. The final decision on the use of this weapon will depend on the level of threat and international restrictions on its use.

Recall that last spring, it became known that Chinese scientists developed a military drone capable of rapidly splitting into six separate parts in mid-air. They claim this is a technological breakthrough that could change the battlefield.
