In Zaporizhzhia, a court has issued a verdict against a mobilized serviceman who committed desertion. The man has been held criminally responsible.

According to court data, the accused is a mobilized serviceman from Chernivtsi, who was appointed as a flamethrower operator in the radiation, chemical, and biological protection platoon on February 29, 2024. However, he voluntarily left his position on April 11, 2024, and remained absent from his place of service until October 14, 2024.

During this period, the man returned to civilian life and lived in Chernivtsi, where he was eventually apprehended by law enforcement.

At the court hearing, the defendant admitted his guilt, explaining his actions by stating that he "no longer wanted to serve."

The Shevchenkivskyi District Court found the serviceman guilty of committing a crime under Part 4 of Article 408 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (desertion) and sentenced him to five years in prison.

Previously, "Telegraph" reported that in Dnipropetrovsk region, a court sentenced a man who evaded military registration. The citizen is required to register within seven days after changing his residence.

During the hearing, it was established that the accused changed his residence in March 2022 without registering for military service as mandated by law. In December 2024, he received an official warning demanding that he report to the Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC), but he ignored it without valid reasons.

The court classified his actions as evasion of military registration under Article 337 of the Criminal Code. The defendant acknowledged his guilt and reached an agreement with the prosecutor. The man was fined 5,100 hryvnias.
