On the night of February 9, Russian military forces launched an attack on Ukraine using Shahed-type strike drones. Air raid alerts were issued in several regions, and explosions were reported in some areas.
The Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the attack began late in the evening on February 8. Near midnight, enemy drones were detected in Chernihiv, Sumy, along the border of Kharkiv and Poltava regions, Kirovohrad region, and from Kherson.
At 00:03, an air raid alert was announced in Kyiv. The Air Forces stated that UAVs were approaching the capital from the northeast direction.
Kyiv Region. At 00:56, the regional military administration reported that air defense systems were active in the area and urged everyone to stay in safe places. As of 1:25, air defense forces were intercepting strike drones in the suburbs of Kyiv, resulting in powerful explosions.
Odessa. At 02:53, explosions were heard in the city. Air defense forces shot down enemy strike drones, writes Dumskaya. At 3:02, the air raid alert was lifted in Odessa region, but just six minutes later, the military declared an alert again due to ballistic threats. The alert was canceled at 03:25. No explosions were recorded during that time.
Rivne Region. Monitoring Telegram channels report that explosions were heard in the region at 03:35 and 05:34.
Volyn Region (Lutsk). According to reports, explosions were heard in the city at 03:16, 03:35, and 04:00.
Poltava Region. Explosions occurred at 00:01.
Kharkiv Region. Explosions were reported at 00:06.
Mykolaiv Region. Monitoring reports indicate that at 01:12, sounds of explosions were heard in the Voznesensk district.
Kirovohrad and Khmelnytskyi Regions. Explosions were reported at 02:59.
