In Ukraine, there are plans to strengthen the penalties for violating curfew requirements. This includes the introduction of fines of up to 3,400 hryvnias.
This is outlined in the draft law №12354, which was registered in the Verkhovna Rada on December 23. The document is authored by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
The explanatory note states that the purpose of the bill is to ensure public order during wartime. It is noted that the implementation of legal regime measures during wartime has revealed significant shortcomings in the legislation.
Specifically, this pertains to issues of administrative liability for violating curfew. The document suggests introducing penalties:
Under the current legislation, the fine is 170-510 hryvnias for the first violation and double that for a repeat offense.
As previously reported, the curfew in Kyiv will remain in effect even during the New Year holidays. Additionally, the operating schedules of public transport will not be extended.
