There are animals whose use on patches indicates the primary location of the brigade. Yes, you can identify military units from Lviv region by lions, but they are not all the same.

The patch of the 24th Brigade features a lion, symbolizing the Galician-Volhynian state of King Daniel. It not only represents the military and state traditions of Galicia but also the power and bravery of the brigade's warriors. The brigade's patch can be seen not only on military uniforms—Ukrposhta has issued a stamp and envelope in honor of the 24th OMBr named after King Daniel.

In 2017, a symbol and motto were developed for the brigade: "Milites Regum," which translates from Latin as "infantry of the king." The vocalist of the band The ВЙО, Miroslav Kuvaldin, created an unofficial anthem for them called "Iron Spirit" in October 2014 after visiting Luhansk and meeting the brigade's fighters.

The brigade is named after King Daniel—the ruler of the Kingdom of Rus, a prominent statesman and military leader of the Middle Ages. The Galician-Volhynian state served as a bulwark against threats from the East, protecting European civilization.

During Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the brigade heroically defended Popasna and Lysychansk. After rotation, its units took part in the liberation of the right bank of southern Ukraine. In July 2024, information emerged about the formation of the "Kharakternyky" battalion within the brigade, which included citizens who had served prison sentences and expressed a desire to defend Ukraine. For their courage and heroism, the brigade was awarded the honorary badge "For Courage and Bravery" on May 6, 2022.

Previously, "Telegraph" reported that a patch could feature not only a real animal in heraldic form or the coat of arms of a prince. The distinguishing mark may also depict a mythical creature, as seen in the 71st OEBr.
