Aims to restore the Russian Empire. When will Putin launch another attack on Ukraine?

Стремится восстановить Российскую империю. Когда Путин вновь атакует Украину?

President Vladimir Putin is not inclined to compromise with Kyiv and may launch an attack on Ukraine in the coming years following the establishment of a ceasefire. Therefore, to avoid ceasing to exist as an independent state, we must continue the struggle.

This was stated in an interview with "Telegraph" by retired British general and former Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe of NATO Richard Shirreff. He explained what Ukraine needs to prepare for.

According to the military expert, there must be a clear understanding: if Putin is given a chance, he will never abandon his intention to erase Ukraine from the map as a sovereign state.

— He will never give up his ambition to restore the Russian Empire. This poses a threat not only to Ukraine but to all of Europe. As is well known, the former Soviet Union included three Baltic states, which are now NATO members, — the general reminded.

Therefore, Europe should prepare for a prolonged period of instability and threats from Russia.

— If Putin gets what he wants (and I see no signs of readiness for compromise), the consequences will be catastrophic. This will allow Russia to regain its strength, rearm, and rotate its army. In two to three years, it will attack Ukraine again, and the war will continue, — added Richard Shirreff.

He expressed the feeling that Ukrainians will not cease their struggle.

— All my Ukrainian friends understand that if Ukraine stops, it will simply cease to exist as an independent state. You will fight with our support or without it. And if without it — you will have to mobilize all internal resources, — says the British general.

He added that there should be grounds for optimism in the new U.S. President Donald Trump, who would want to avoid a massive humiliation for America if he abandons Ukraine to its fate.

Recall that earlier Richard Shirreff provided the "Telegraph" with an outlook on the war in Ukraine for the coming months.
