Denis Shmyhal has held the position of Prime Minister of Ukraine since 2020, which naturally attracts heightened attention to his persona. However, he tries to keep his family away from the public eye, and his wife rarely appears in public, leading a private life.

"Telegraph" sought to uncover what the wife of the Ukrainian Prime Minister, Kateryna Shmyhal, looks like and what she does. The couple has been together for over 25 years.

What Denis Shmyhal's wife looks like and what is known about her

The beloved of the Ukrainian Prime Minister, Kateryna Anatoliivna Shmyhal, was born on December 7, 1975. She married the future politician in 1998 and has given him two daughters: Anna and Sofia.

Denis Shmyhal does not share much about his personal life, and his spouse avoids publicity; her social media accounts are private, so there is little information about her available to the public.

It is known that until 2016, Kateryna was engaged in business in Lviv, owning the "Kamenets Bakery" and the NextBike bike rental network. Last year, it was revealed that the Prime Minister's wife had opened a private entrepreneur (FOP) 17 years ago and started renting out real estate, but in 2024, she closed it and registered a private enterprise named "Kadis.Ua," with a charter capital of 30 million hryvnias.

However, the field of activity remained unchanged: the rental and operation of owned or leased real estate. But additional activities emerged: hotel and restaurant operations, mobile catering services, provision of ready-made meals for events, as well as buying, selling, and managing real estate. Kateryna was listed as the sole beneficial owner of the enterprise.

According to the declaration for 2021, the business generated more income for the wife of the Ukrainian official than his work as Prime Minister.

Kateryna first appeared in public with her husband in 2021 when Ukraine celebrated the 30th anniversary of Independence Day. The entire family wore beautiful embroidered shirts.

She also accompanied her husband at the festive gala concert at the National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet of Ukraine named after T. G. Shevchenko, organized on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Independence. Many high-profile guests attended the event.

Later, Denis Shmyhal and his family attended a concert by Andrea Bocelli in Kyiv, where Kateryna gave her first interview to TV host Kateryna Osadcha on the program "Society Life."

The "Second Lady" of the country noted that she tries to avoid publicity, despite her husband holding such a high position, as excessive attention can interfere with her everyday life. She mentioned that she manages their home and, as Shmyhal remarked, oversees their small family business.

Their daughters, Anna and Sofia, are already grown up; in 2021, Anna became a student at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, where she chose to study "Philology" and continued her master’s degree in management at Lviv Polytechnic University. At that time, Sofia was attending high school.
