The literary and musical evening was organized by the charitable cultural organization "TolokaUSA," aiming not only to honor Stus's legacy but also to engage the American audience in supporting Ukraine.
During the event, participants recited poems, letters, and biographical excerpts in both Ukrainian and English, bringing Stus's work closer to an international audience. The funds raised were donated to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine — specifically for the purchase of anti-drone weapons.
Co-founders of "TolokaUSA," Valentina Ivaniuk and Tatyana Rassadzina, emphasized that such events not only help promote Ukrainian culture abroad but also attract international support in the fight against Russian aggression.
"We joined the international Stus Fest, which involves 20 countries, to honor the memory of Vasyl Stus and to raise funds to assist the Armed Forces of Ukraine," noted one of the organizers.
As a reminder, a film by Oscar-winning Ukrainian director Myroslav Chernov was recently showcased at the Sundance festival in the USA.
It was also reported that Myroslav Chernov received a prestigious American award for the film "2000 Meters to Andriivka."
