An explosion occurred at a hotel near the center of Lviv. As a result of the incident, a man was injured.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the police of the Lviv region.

According to law enforcement, around midnight on February 2, the police received a report of an explosion on Horydotska Street at one of the hotels in Lviv. A investigative-operational group and staff from other services of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1, as well as bomb technicians from the Lviv region police, arrived at the scene.

It has been preliminarily established that a 44-year-old resident of Lviv, while on the third floor of the hotel, threw an unknown explosive device. As a result of the explosion, the man sustained injuries and was hospitalized. The blast wave damaged the windows and doors of the establishment.

Investigators have opened a criminal case under part 4 of Article 296 (Hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Law enforcement is determining the circumstances of the explosion and the origin of the explosive device.

Reports on social media indicate that the incident took place at the "Arena" hotel on Horydotska Street. The man allegedly detonated a grenade in the hotel.

RBK-Ukraine also reported that over the past weekend, an explosion occurred in a high-rise building in the city of Irpin near Kyiv.
