In Odessa, the TCC has launched an investigation into the alleged kidnapping and assault of the son of a renowned writer.

In Odessa, employees of the TCC allegedly kidnapped and assaulted the son of a well-known journalist. A service check has been initiated at the military enlistment office.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Odessa Regional TCC and SP.

"In response to the information regarding the alleged kidnapping and beating of citizen Maxim Koltunov by TCC representatives, we inform you that a service check is currently underway," the statement reads.

A special commission has been established and has already begun gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.

"If the reported facts are confirmed, the leadership of the RTC and SP will provide all necessary support to law enforcement for an objective investigation of this incident," the TCC added.

The military enlistment office noted that every serviceman or TCC employee must operate strictly within the law, adhering to the Code of Conduct for servicemen and human rights.

"Any cases of violating these principles are unacceptable and carry responsibility. We are taking all necessary measures to prevent such incidents," the press service stated.

Kidnapping and Assault of a Journalist's Son in Odessa: What We Know

The incident of the kidnapping and beating of Maxim Koltunov was reported by his mother, Victoria Koltunova, a well-known journalist and writer in Odessa. According to her, TCC employees seized her son despite his deferment status (both his mother and wife have disabilities).

"They beat him for about three hours, demanding money, and then threw him on the road unconscious, thinking he was dead. People called an ambulance. He has three broken ribs, a punctured lung, bleeding in the lung, a bruised spleen, and a concussion," she wrote on Facebook, adding that her son is currently in the hospital and has already undergone surgery.

As reported, a driver fled from the TCC after being stopped by the police on the 'Kiev - Odessa' highway. However, he was apprehended nonetheless.

Additionally, in Odessa, TCC and police representatives forcibly detained a man, causing a scandal on social media. The military enlistment office responded.
