The case against the "titushky" has reached a turning point, with charges filed in court against former officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The State Bureau of Investigations (GBR) has effectively concluded the cases involving the so-called "titushki." The case against the former Minister of Internal Affairs and the acting head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kyiv has been forwarded to court.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the press service of the State Bureau of Investigations.

According to the investigation, the individuals involved in the case led the so-called "titushki" during the Revolution of Dignity from November 2013 to February 2014.

"The completion of the investigation in this significant criminal case marks the end of the inquiry into the involvement of the 'titushki' in organizing violence during this period. The investigation has proven that officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs recruited mercenaries for unlawful activities aimed at obstructing peaceful protests," the statement reads.

According to the investigation, the former high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs organized:

• the abduction of two participants of the "Euromaidan" movement from the Alexandrovsk Clinical Hospital in Kyiv on the night of January 20-21, 2014, where they were tortured and one of them was intentionally killed;
• the abduction and unlawful confinement of an activist on January 21, 2014, near the "Pochaina" metro station in Kyiv, followed by his torture on the night of January 21-22, 2014, at a tent camp near the "Boryspilskaya" metro station in Kyiv;
• the intentional murder of a journalist on February 18-19, 2014, at the intersection of Volodymyrska and Great Zhytomyrska streets in Kyiv, as well as attempts to murder other protesters and inflict bodily harm on them.

The actions carried out under the direction of the former officials resulted in severe consequences: loss of life, varying degrees of bodily harm, and intimidation of peaceful citizens. The individuals mentioned face life imprisonment.

Maiden Cases

In Ukraine, investigations continue against those involved in illegally obstructing protests in central Kyiv during 2013-2014, known as the Revolution of Dignity.

Earlier, GBR identified the law enforcement officers who fired the first shots at protesters on Independence Square in Kyiv in February 2014.

Additionally, in the summer of 2024, new suspicions were announced against the commanders of the Lviv, Kharkiv, and Sevastopol "Berkut" regarding the dispersal of protesters.
