Today, February 2, according to the new church calendar, Orthodox Christians and Greek Catholics celebrate the significant holiday of the Meeting of the Lord. This religious holiday is regarded as one of the twelve most important in the ecclesiastical calendar.

As is known, prior to the transition of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine to the new church calendar, the Meeting of the Lord was celebrated on February 15. Now, however, the date has shifted back by 13 days and is observed on February 2. The Meeting of the Lord symbolizes the encounter of humanity, which awaited the coming of the Messiah into this world, with God. The righteous Simeon embodies all of humanity. Additionally, it is believed that on this day winter meets spring.
