Смерть ребенка в морозильнике: Лубинец поделился новыми подробностями трагедии в Одессе.

Following the high-profile case of the boy's death in Odessa, whose body was found in a freezer, the city's social services conducted inspections. The information was forwarded to law enforcement.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Telegram channel of Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets.

"Such cases must not go without appropriate response. At my request, a monitoring visit was conducted at several institutions in the Odessa region," Lubinets stated.

The inspection results revealed that the child's mother was a minor at the time of his birth and had the status of a child deprived of parental care, with no family or social connections.

It was noted that she gave birth to her first child at the age of 16, yet the guardianship authority decided to grant her full legal capacity.

It turned out that the child welfare services in the Odessa region did not grant the mother and her children the status of a family in difficult life circumstances.

According to Lubinets, the social service centers ignored reports from law enforcement about potential dangers to the children due to their living conditions and failed to fulfill their primary responsibilities regarding children in need of support.

"The Ombudsman’s Office initiated a presentation to the Odessa Regional State Administration regarding the inaction of officials responsible for child protection. The information has been forwarded to the Office of the Attorney General and the National Police of Ukraine for further investigation," Lubinets reported.

What preceded this

Recall that on February 13, the regional police department reported that a child's body was discovered in a freezer in one of the apartments in Odessa. The boy was just over a year old and lived with his 18-year-old mother and her 44-year-old partner, who had a criminal record.
