Russians executed Ukrainian soldiers in the Kursk region.

Russian soldiers likely executed Ukrainian fighters who were captured in the Kursk region. A corresponding video has surfaced online.

This information comes from RBK-Ukraine citing ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets.

According to Lubinets, a video of the probable brutal execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war has begun circulating on social media, reportedly involving soldiers from the 82nd brigade.

The footage shows a Russian occupier deliberately shooting a Ukrainian prisoner of war in the head.

"The execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war is yet another testament to the inhumane cruelty of the Russian army. The video circulating on social media indicates a deliberate act of murder against defenseless Ukrainian prisoners of war. This is a gross violation of the Geneva Convention and all norms of international humanitarian law," Lubinets stated.

He mentioned that he has already reached out to the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Executions of Ukrainian Prisoners of War

During the invasion of Ukraine, Russia has been systematically executing Ukrainian prisoners of war, which constitutes a severe breach of international humanitarian law. According to Human Rights Commissioner Dmitry Lubinets, 109 such cases have been recorded in 2024 out of 177 confirmed over three years.

Additionally, at the beginning of February, it became known that Russian occupiers may have decapitated a Ukrainian soldier. Ukraine has preliminarily managed to identify the deceased.
