Russia is equipping foam drones, known as "Gerbera," with combat payloads.

The Russian army has begun equipping "Gerbera" drones with small combat payloads. Previously, these unmanned aerial vehicles were used solely for distracting air defense systems.

This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Defense Express.

The new development by the Russians has attracted attention online, accompanied by relevant photos. It is noted that the "Gerbera" can be fitted with various types of combat payloads weighing up to 5 kg.

One of the photos displayed the "Gerbera," which was equipped with a 2.5 kg fragmentation-explosive warhead installed in the nose of the drone.

It is worth mentioning that during the drone's demonstration in July of last year, the Russians showcased the potential for arming this drone and using it as a loitering munition. Additionally, there were plans to equip the drone with a camera and a communication system.

Russia has begun using drone decoys

Last summer, it became known that the enemy employed two new types of drones against Ukraine. These were made from foam and plywood. One of the UAVs was equipped with a camera and a SIM card from a Ukrainian mobile phone to transmit images to Russian military forces.

By the end of the year, Ukrainian intelligence uncovered the "insides" of the Russian "Gerbera" drone.
