Russia is losing control in the Black Sea—does this pose a new threat to Odesa?

Russia continues to promote narratives about the so-called "land corridor" to the occupied Transnistria, attempting to incite panic. However, the enemy currently lacks the capability to conduct a naval landing on the shores of Odessa.
Россия теряет влияние в Черном море — стоит ли опасаться угрозы для Одессы?

This was stated by the speaker of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Dmitry Pletenchuk, on the air of the "We Are Ukraine" TV channel.

No Threat to Odessa

Pletenchuk mentioned that due to significant losses in the landing fleet and failures in ground operations, Russia is unable to carry out its plans.

"The appetites and plans of the Russians have not changed. I do not recall them officially renouncing their claims to continue the so-called corridor in Transnistria. We are currently witnessing another wave of such narratives from propagandists of various levels — from obscure bloggers to top Kremlin mouthpieces", the representative of the Naval Forces of Ukraine stated.

However, according to him, there are no grounds to discuss a real threat of a marine landing. The Russians have been unable to overcome the barriers they encountered in the Mykolaiv region at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Since then, they have fallen back even further.

"Operations for conducting marine landings are among the most complex types of naval operations. They are not carried out merely by desire. If there is no success on land, they become unrealistic", Pletenchuk explained.

Russians Have Lost Landing Capabilities

Moreover, the enemy has lost a significant portion of its landing capabilities. Additionally, due to the actions of Ukrainian forces, Russian ships are forced to remain more than 100 nautical miles away from the Ukrainian coast.

"Before the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia deployed six additional large landing ships to conduct a maritime operation. As of now, these capabilities have been lost — five ships have been destroyed, and some are still under repair", Pletenchuk reported.

We remind you that the occupiers have lost the ability to base major combat ships in occupied Crimea and to control the region. We also reported that today the Odessa region was once again attacked by Russian occupiers, resulting in casualties.
