In Ukraine, there is a Unified Register of Debtors to monitor debtors. This is an official electronic database of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, which contains information about individuals and entities that have unfulfilled financial or property obligations related to enforcement proceedings.

The Register includes debtors against whom enforcement proceedings have been opened. These can be:

  • Individuals who have not paid alimony, loans, fines, utility bills, or other debts
  • Legal entities (companies, enterprises) with debts based on court decisions
  • Persons who obstruct visitation rights with a child.

How to check information in the debtor register?

Data from the Debtor Register is available online on the website of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine. You can check yourself or another person using their full name, tax identification number, or the registration number of the enterprise.

How to remove information from the register?

To remove your name from the Debtor Register, you need to:

  1. Pay off the debt – fully settle the outstanding obligation
  2. Obtain confirmation – the enforcement service must document the payment
  3. Wait for the database update – after fulfilling the obligations, the debtor will be removed from the Register.

Previously, "Telegraph" reported that after a debtor's death, their debts do not disappear. They are inherited along with the property, but there are several important nuances to be aware of.
