The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine provided this information in an exclusive comment to the Novini.LIVE editorial team in response to an official inquiry.
Many Ukrainians expressed their concerns on social media, claiming they had not received the promised supplement for the first month of 2025. The Ministry clarified that payments were made in most communities, but some delays occurred. January marks the beginning of a new budget period, which is always associated with various preparatory procedures.
This includes holding meetings and making the necessary decisions by local councils, as well as carrying out certain organizational activities by the State Treasury Service and others. In any case, although with delays, all educational staff will receive an additional payment of 1,000 UAH to their salary.
It is important to note that this amount is after taxes and fees that Ukrainians pay from their official incomes. Thus, the gross amount for the month is 1,300 UAH, but the net amount received is lower.
"A separate subsidy of nearly 12 billion UAH has been allocated in the State Budget of Ukraine for 2025 for this additional payment. On December 27, 2024, the government distributed part of the subsidy for January-June 2025 amounting to 4.6 billion UAH among the budgets of territorial communities based on operational data from regional administrations regarding the number of educators (positions) in schools," the Ministry clarified in a comment to Novini.LIVE.
As it is known, the subsidy funds have been allocated for nearly 500,000 positions of educational workers. An additional 7.4 billion UAH will be distributed by a separate government decision based on the number of teachers in the next academic year (starting September 2025, when the amount of the supplement will increase to 2,000 UAH).
The Ministry assured that the issue of payments is under constant control, so there is no need to worry about the implementation of this new measure.
We remind you that Ukrainian teachers' salaries depend on many factors. In particular, the base salary, which is determined by the tariff category, mandatory supplements, bonuses, and similar factors. On average, educators earn 13,000 UAH per month.
We also reported that the law "On Preschool Education" has come into force, which introduced many innovations for teachers. For example, a uniform duration of annual paid leave for all staff at preschool educational institutions has been established—56 calendar days.
