Onions are a popular vegetable in Ukraine. They are added to soups, used when frying meat, and serve as a base for baked goods.
Today, we would like to share a recipe for the latter. The onion pie is easy to make and turns out aromatic and crispy. We published the recipe on our Instagram page "diana_ovinnikova".

1. Finely chop the onion.
2. In a skillet, heat the olive oil and butter. Add the onion and sauté it over medium heat until golden.
3. Cut the leek in half lengthwise. Finely chop it. Add it to the white onion and sauté until it becomes soft (about 10 minutes). Season with salt and pepper to taste.
4. Grease a baking dish with butter and place the pastry in it. Press it well against the sides and trim any excess. Prick the bottom with a fork and place the dish with the pastry in the refrigerator.
5. Transfer the onion mixture to a bowl, add cheese, cream, and egg, mix well, and adjust the seasoning (salt/pepper). Remove the pastry from the refrigerator. Pour the filling into it and distribute it evenly.
6. Bake in a preheated oven at 190 degrees for about 40 minutes, until the pastry is golden.
