In the Kharkiv region, an agent network of the Russian Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) has been uncovered, which, under the guise of volunteering, was coordinating strikes in the area.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Telegram channel of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
The individuals involved were a local unemployed person and his partner. To maintain cover, the agents posed as volunteers helping stray animals.
"They even set up an improvised 'shelter' in their own yard. Under the pretense of searching for abandoned animals, they traveled around the area and recorded geolocations for targeting," the SBU writes.
Among the potential targets were backup deployment points, defense checkpoints, and medical facilities housing injured Ukrainian soldiers.

Additionally, the traitors gathered information "in the dark" from other civilians during reconnaissance outings. They relayed all obtained data via phone to an acquaintance who is a militant fighting on the eastern front and collaborating with the Russian GRU.
It was established that both individuals were recruited through a fellow villager who has been fighting against Ukraine in the east since 2014.
Both detainees have been informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - treason committed by a group of individuals in conspiracy under martial law.
They face life imprisonment.
Recall that RBK-Ukraine reported that an agent of the Federal Security Service (FSB) was detained in Odesa, who was spying on ships defending Ukraine's waters in the Black Sea.
