"Укрэнерго" secured €86 million from the EIB for drone defense measures.

NEC "Ukrenergo" has received €86 million from the European Investment Bank (EIB) for the installation of anti-drone protection at key substations of the electricity system. This was reported by the EIB, as conveyed by UNN.

Details

It is noted that this funding is provided under the EIB's Emergency Solidarity Package for Ukraine, developed in collaboration with the European Commission. It became the first component of the Energy Support Plan for Ukraine, adopted by the EIB in October 2024, aimed at addressing the significant damage to energy infrastructure caused by the war with Russia.

Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko stated that Ukraine's infrastructure remains one of the main targets of Russian aggression and terror.

According to the acting head of "Ukrenergo," Oleksiy Brekht, the protection of critically important substation equipment is necessary due to ongoing Russian attacks.

As reported by "Ukrenergo," the total amount of credit support provided by the EIB to the company since the beginning of the full-scale war has already reached €136 million.
