It has been noted that 24-year-old Ebony McIntosh and 26-year-old Nadine Raguz were staying at the Miracle Colombo City hostel in the capital of Sri Lanka. Both fell ill after their room was fumigated to eliminate bedbugs. They were hospitalized.

The police are still determining whether the two women were poisoned by pesticides. An autopsy to establish the cause of McIntosh's death will take place once her family arrives in Sri Lanka.
