Vladimir Zelensky shared his reaction on social media X.
Protests took place in numerous cities across the country, particularly in Košice, where around 15,000 people participated. Overall, according to Slovak media reports, thousands of demonstrators took to the streets. The police ensured order and safety, urging citizens to follow law enforcement instructions and respect the rights of others.
Protests against the Slovak government were also supported in other European countries, including Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Ireland.
Alongside the protests against the government, counter-rallies took place in some Slovak cities under the slogan "Slovakia is not Ukraine." However, these events attracted a minimal number of participants. For instance, only 40 people showed up for such an event in Bratislava.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky responded to the protests in Slovakia. He posted a photo from the protests and captioned it: "Bratislava is not Moscow. Slovakia is Europe."
It is worth noting that Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has shown his negative stance towards Vladimir Zelensky. Recently, he declined an invitation from Vladimir Zelensky to visit Kyiv and also threatened Ukraine after halting gas transit from Russia.
Previously, there had already been protests against Fico in Slovakia. Citizens expressed their discontent with the pro-Russian direction of the party's policies.
