This was the response of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to a question from Novini.LIVE journalist Halyna Ostapovets during a conference on Thursday, January 16.
Zelensky noted that the size of the peacekeeping forces will likely depend on security guarantees. It is still too early to discuss the exact number, but negotiations are underway with various countries.
"Today we are discussing this French initiative for deploying a military contingent. We have talked about this in detail with French President Emmanuel Macron, are in discussions with Poland, have spoken with our Baltic partners, and are also in talks with Britain. It is still too early to discuss some details," — said the head of state.
Zelensky also mentioned that the possibility of sending a military contingent to Ukraine is being discussed with those countries willing to do so. The conversation also includes states that are capable of taking such a step.
"It is too early to talk about numbers today. It depends on what the format of security guarantees for Ukraine will be. Because this can only be a segment of real guarantees for Ukraine and Ukrainians. In any case, we do not consider security guarantees without the USA. We have not yet discussed this with the new America. Only after the new US administration will we understand the structure of future security for Ukraine," — stated Zelensky.
