The Ukrainian leader stated this during a conference.
Zelensky emphasized that these guarantees are a testament to the strength of the country and are necessary to prevent a recurrence of war.
The president pointed out that Ukraine is not afraid of invasion but is primarily concerned about the lives of its citizens, as this is its highest value.
"It's about the strength of the country; they are needed to prevent a repeat of war. We are not afraid of invasion; we fear casualties — because lives are important to us," he stated.
According to the Ukrainian leader, Europe, NATO, and the U.S. can provide robust security guarantees; however, there has been no clear support from the United States regarding Ukraine's NATO membership.
In this situation, the only option for ensuring security remains a strong Ukrainian army and the presence of allied troops on the country's territory, which should be a collective decision for all of Europe.
Let us remind you that Zelensky met today, February 18, with Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara.
On the same day, negotiations are taking place in Saudi Arabia between representatives of the U.S. and Russia, including discussions on ending the war in Ukraine.
