According to the SBI, the deputy commander was responsible for logistics in the military unit. He decided to appropriate valuable equipment.
"In the documentation he prepared, it was noted that 24 night vision devices were lost in combat conditions. The value of the equipment reaches almost 4 million hryvnias," — the report states.
In reality, the deputy commander ordered his subordinates to hide the night vision devices in a pile of trash at one of the warehouses. Law enforcement seized evidence of illegal activities during the searches.
The military personnel has been notified of suspicion. The individual has been placed under detention, with bail set at 7.7 million hryvnias. He faces up to 15 years in prison.
Investigations are currently underway to determine the involvement of other military personnel, including the unit's command. Additionally, a service investigation and inventory of military property in the unit have been initiated.
