The Armed Forces of Ukraine advanced from the south of Velyka Novosilka, according to the spokesperson for the Operational Command "Khortytsia."

Ukrainian forces have withdrawn from the southern part of the village of Velika Novosilka in the Donetsk region. This decision was made to prevent being encircled by enemy troops.
Спикер ОСУВ "Хортица" сообщил, что ВСУ покинули южную часть Великой Новоселки.

This was reported by the spokesperson of the operational-strategic group of troops "Khortytsia" Viktor Trehubov during a telethon on Monday, January 27.

Current Situation in Velyka Novosilka

According to Trehubov, Ukrainian defenders are currently holding certain positions closer to the outskirts of Velyka Novosilka. The occupiers have taken a significant part of the city. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are holding back the enemy to prevent further advances.

"To avoid encirclement of Ukrainian forces in the southern part of the settlement, they were withdrawn from there. Ukrainian forces are maintaining some positions within the settlement, but closer to the outskirts. Any other actions could lead to their encirclement and unnecessary losses among Ukrainian defenders," the spokesperson noted.

Trehubov also reported that the situation in the Pokrovsk direction remains challenging. He added that this section of the front accounts for nearly half of all combat encounters.

It is worth noting that reports of Russian advances in the settlement of Velyka Novosilka in the Donetsk region were also made by the press service of the 110th OMBr. They indicated that the enemy attempted to block the strongholds of Ukrainian fighters.

The head of state, Volodymyr Zelensky, appointed the leader of the OSUV "Khortytsia." Major General Mikhail Drapatiy has taken this position. This is part of the President's initiative to strengthen the command staff of the troops in the hottest areas.
