Ukraine's EU membership bid has sparked criticism from the media, accusing the Union of inaction.

The publication states that after the official application process for EU membership began, Kyiv has yet to open its first negotiation cluster with the bloc due to inaction from Brussels. Journalists believe that the situation may improve in the near future thanks to support from Sweden and the EU's chief diplomat, Kaja Kallas.

At the same time, Swedish Minister for European Affairs Jessika Roswall stated that Ukraine has demonstrated sufficient progress for the bloc to open the first cluster, which addresses "fundamental issues" such as the rule of law, paving the way for further negotiations.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that he hopes Kyiv will negotiate on 5-6 clusters out of the necessary 35 by 2025.
