Stoltenberg made this statement on the sidelines of the Munich conference on Sunday, February 16, as reported by a correspondent from Novini.LIVE.
A journalist asked Stoltenberg whether he believes there is a rift between Europe and the US, and how both sides can begin to act together.
"We have observed significant disagreements and discord. Such meetings are important because it's better to discuss different viewpoints in one room. Our goal is to focus on possible actions, avoid creating self-fulfilling prophecies, and not exacerbate the disagreements," he said.
According to Stoltenberg, one thing Europe can do is to increase defense investments. He stated that this is beneficial for keeping the Americans engaged, but if they reduce support for EU countries, investing in their own defense will become even more crucial.
"I think it is worth considering various signals. Therefore, we should wait and see what happens before jumping to hasty conclusions," added the Norwegian Finance Minister.
Recall that on February 14, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. arrived at the Munich Security Conference.
He urged Europe to establish its own armed forces and thanked countries for their assistance.
