Stoltenberg advises caution when discussing the negotiations.

The Minister of Finance of Norway, Jens Stoltenberg, made this statement during the Munich Security Conference on Sunday, February 16.

Stoltenberg Comments on Negotiations Between Ukraine and Russia

The Norwegian Finance Minister stated that Ukraine needs to strengthen its military capabilities. In doing so, it will have better conditions for negotiations. He also emphasized the importance of being cautious in making assumptions about the potential outcomes of negotiations, as the situation on the battlefield is significant.

"It is crucial for Ukraine to survive as an independent democratic state so that it can make its own decisions. The likelihood of this increases with its military strength," Stoltenberg said.

The official also mentioned that the European Union is indeed important, but it is not the only platform for coordinating actions in Europe. He cited examples of the United Kingdom, Turkey, and Norway, which are not EU members but are part of NATO.

It is worth noting that the Norwegian Finance Minister also pointed out that there are indeed disagreements between the EU and the USA. According to Stoltenberg, it is essential not to exacerbate this but to foster cooperation.

The former NATO Secretary General also stated that now is the best time to increase pressure on Russia. Stoltenberg declared that the Russians have failed to achieve their military objectives.
