Families of POWs Criticize the Red Cross

Families of the captured Ukrainian defenders unanimously state that the ICRC does not collaborate with the soldiers' families. They claim that confirmation of a soldier's captivity can take years, even when there is evidence published by the Russians.

"I am the aunt of two captive nephews. One served in the 36th brigade, and the other is a sailor. Both were in Mariupol and have been in captivity for three years now. We know where they are and how they are being treated. Throughout this time, we have been fighting, but we cannot bring them home," said a woman who attended the rally.

According to her, the Red Cross provides no assistance and offers no answers to their inquiries.

At the same time, the mother of a soldier who is missing, Alla, shared that she has come to the ICRC building for the fourth time, submitting numerous requests, but the organization has not provided any information.

"This year, on March 21, it will be three years since my son went missing. There is a video released by Russia showing my son being taken off a vehicle wounded; I provided it to the ICRC. They responded that they would send this video to the Russian side for confirmation and would then reply. However, it has been three years of silence. They just smile in my face and say they know nothing," said the soldier's mother.

Let us remind you that the wife of a POW, who attended the rally, stated that the ICRC did not confirm for a year and a half that her husband was in captivity, despite her providing photo and video evidence.

The brother of a Ukrainian soldier, who is in captivity in Russia, also complains about the inaction of the Red Cross. According to him, there have been no actions from the ICRC for over a year.
