The court has ordered the man to be held in custody for two months without the possibility of bail.
"The court has chosen a preventive measure — two months of detention without the right to bail," noted the spokesperson for the Poltava police.
Recall that the police announced suspicion against the husband of blogger Anna Zhuk, who tragically died in a horrific car accident on the Kyiv-Kharkiv highway. Her 25-year-old partner, Vladimir Bilevtsov, was driving the vehicle.
The man has been charged under part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — "Violation of traffic safety rules." This article stipulates a penalty of imprisonment for a term of three to eight years.
The tragedy occurred on January 24. During an overtaking maneuver, Vladimir Bilevtsov collided with a truck that was parked off the road. As a result of the accident, 39-year-old Anna Zhuk died at the scene, while her 9-year-old son, who was also in the vehicle, sustained severe injuries and is currently in intensive care.
On January 26, a farewell ceremony for Anna Zhuk took place in Kharkiv. The deceased's husband attended the funeral. The tragedy has sparked widespread public outcry, and the investigation continues to uncover all details of the incident.
