How Ukrainian defender Vladimir Ivanov endured captivity in Russia, read in the material from Novini.LIVE.
Vladimir Ivanov hails from the south of Mykolaiv. He joined as an infantryman to defend Ukraine back in 2015 and protected Mariupol until 2022. He was captured on April 4, 2022.
"I had a head injury. When I was taken captive, I was in eight Russian prison colonies. I was tortured there: electric shock, broken bones, and dog bites. I went through hell," says the soldier.
The man is grateful to be alive. His will to live and desire to return home became a powerful motivation for survival.
"When I was freed, I felt a sense of relief. I realized that tomorrow there would be no more torment, and I could wake up in the morning and call my loved ones," notes Vladimir.
The prisoner of war was returned to Ukraine on September 14, 2024. Today, he is in Lviv awaiting surgery and undergoing rehabilitation. Meanwhile, he participates in actions supporting imprisoned defenders.
"I survived, and I am very happy about it. Today I am here to support my brothers-in-arms who are still there. I want us to be heard and to be freed from this hell as soon as possible," adds the soldier.
We remind you that we previously reported that the mother of a captive shared the last news she heard about her son.
