The former commander of the U.S. Army in Europe discussed this in an interview with Novini.LIVE.
"I was not pleased when I heard Mr. Sullivan, as well as Mr. Voltz, Mr. Trump's national security advisor, use this almost as an excuse for why Ukraine isn't achieving better results. In reality, it's just an excuse from Sullivan to cover up their failures.", stated Ben Hodges.
According to the general, the main issue is that the government has not fully changed to earn the trust of Ukrainians. People joining the army need to be assured that the state will prepare them, equip them, and support their families in the event of a soldier's death or injury.
"Perhaps some families still remember the Soviet era and view the army as a place where young lives are simply wasted. The government's task is to assure citizens that their children will be trained, equipped, and led into battle with dignity.", the former commander added.
The general is convinced that there are enough people aged 26 and older in Ukraine who are capable of fighting. The state must attract them by providing guarantees.
Let us remind you that Ukraine has recovered the bodies of 757 fallen warriors.
Recently, a video was also published showing how the naval forces shot down a Russian Kh-59 missile with an APKWS for the first time.
