To find out where products are cheaper, journalists from Novyny.LIVE conducted their own research and announced an international price inspection.

Product Prices in Ukraine and Switzerland

In Kyiv, journalist Oleksandr Saiun inspected prices at the Ukrainian "Silpo," while Halyna Ostapovets checked prices at the popular Swiss chain Coop.

As the media representatives discovered, a dozen eggs in Ukraine costs the buyer 65 UAH, while in Switzerland, 6 eggs will set you back a staggering 200 UAH. Bread in Ukraine ranges from 27 to 51 UAH, whereas abroad, a loaf costs between 180 and 250 UAH. In a Kyiv supermarket, the price for almost a kilogram of chicken thighs with part of the back is 68 UAH. In Switzerland, however, 250 grams of chicken will cost 600 UAH.

A similar situation exists with several other products and supplements. For example, milk in Ukraine is priced from 50 to 68 UAH per liter, while in Switzerland, it costs 85 UAH. A kilogram of sugar can be purchased by Ukrainians for 33 UAH, compared to 80 UAH in Switzerland. Additionally, 850 ml of "Oleina" brand vegetable oil in "Silpo" is priced at 78 UAH, while a liter of oil in bottles in Switzerland costs 180 UAH.

At the same time, fruits and vegetables vary in price, with some items in Ukraine being more expensive than in Switzerland. For instance, while apples in a Ukrainian store cost 49-60 UAH per kilogram, they cost 115 UAH in the Swiss chain. However, the situation is different with tomatoes. Their price in Ukraine ranges from 229 to 370 UAH per kilogram, while in Switzerland, it's nearly 300 UAH. The same circumstances apply to cucumbers, as a kilogram in "Silpo" will cost 400 UAH, whereas in Coop stores, it's 46 UAH per unit.

We remind you that we recently reported that dairy products have significantly increased in price throughout 2024. However, in some supermarkets, thanks to discounts and promotions, products can be purchased at a lower price.
