Johnson responded sharply to Trump's remarks regarding Zelensky's ratings.

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson responded to a statement made by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the supposedly low approval ratings of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky and the need for elections. In Johnson's view, Trump's comment was intended to "shock Europeans and motivate them to take action."
Джонсон остро ответил на комментарии Трампа касательно рейтинга Зеленского.

About this, Johnson wrote on X on Wednesday, February 19.

Rating of Zelensky

"Of course, a country that is subject to a violent invasion should not hold elections. The UK did not have general elections from 1935 to 1945," Johnson noted.

He pointed out that Zelensky's support among Ukrainians is certainly not at 4% and is actually quite similar to Trump's ratings.

According to the politician, statements from the American president "are not meant to be historically accurate, but to shock Europeans and spur them into action." Johnson believes that this way, the U.S. is encouraging the use of $300 billion in frozen Russian assets, which are mostly located in Belgium.

"This is money that can and should be used for payments to Ukraine and compensation to the U.S. for their support," he added.

Earlier, Trump stated that Ukraine needs to hold presidential elections because Zelensky allegedly has a popularity level of 4%.

In response, the Ukrainian leader noted that according to a KMIS survey, 57% of Ukrainians support him.

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk emphasized that Ukraine needs ammunition, not ballots. He mentioned that elections during wartime are legally impossible.
