The President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this in his evening address on Sunday, January 26.
Zelensky noted that he has tasked with strengthening the personnel of the Ukrainian army in the most intense combat areas — in the Donetsk region. Consequently, Major General Mykhailo Drapaty has been appointed the head of the Joint Operational Command "Khortytsia."
"At the same time, Drapaty will retain the authority of Commander of the Ground Forces — the largest component of our Armed Forces, and this will help combine the combat operations of the army with the proper training of brigades. It is the frontline needs that should determine the standards for staffing and training brigades," the head of state emphasized.
The President also expressed gratitude to Ukrainian developers and manufacturers of long-range drones and missiles. He noted that their effectiveness is already evident.
"Concerns in Russia, a decrease in Russian capabilities to sell and process oil, lower global oil prices — these are the things needed for peace. This year must be decisive, and our actions should impact our destiny. That is exactly what we are doing," Zelensky stated.
Recall that the 110th OMBr reported that the occupiers have advanced in the settlement of Velyka Novosilka in the Donetsk region. The Russians are attempting to block the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine there.
Earlier, the Joint Operational Command "Khortytsia" denied reports that the Russians allegedly entered Pokrovsk. The situation there is complex, but Ukrainian troops are holding their positions.
